About The Project
Green-tech Specifier has been involved in the regeneration of Stevenage Town Centre, which is one of the early stages of a 15 year regeneration plan for the town commissioned and managed by Stevenage Borough Council.
The decision makers at Stevenage turned to Green-tech Specifier for a cost-effective, robust solution for the planting of 11 semi-mature trees as part of their landscape design for the proposed refurbished town centre area.
What we did
Green-tech Specifier advised their Geo-Cellular Raft System to provide an optimum start for each tree. The Geo-Cellular Raft System works by absorbing the impact of vehicle and pedestrian load to prevent soil compaction, thus protecting the tree roots and growing media and allowing the tree’s roots to grow within their natural path. The system is simple to install, offers total flexibility and is suitable for any tree pit size.
80 tonnes of Green-tree Subsoil was used to build up levels before the trees were planted and 40 tonnes of Green-tree Geo-Cellular Raft System soil were used in this project. The Geo-Cellular Raft System Soil works with the system to prevent compaction within the tree pit and ensures essential moisture, air and nutrients reach the tree’s roots. Working together, the system and the soil provide a healthy growing space for trees in urban areas.
Green-tech Specifier also supplied the Tree Anchoring systems necessary to stabilise and secure trees; Mona Plant System rings, the irrigation system used in many high profile project across the UK and Europe; gt Rootbarrier® 325 to control and protect the tree roots and structures and finally, Resi-Grille to complete the project and provide a robust and clean contemporary finish.
